Stratigic Plan

Luz Community Development Coalition and its community partners have been interviewing individual community members and surveying the community to assess the needs within the Clark County Latino Community.

To determine Community Readiness and Mobilization, the membership utilized a modified version of the Community Readiness and Mobilization Survey.

Luz set out to identify to what extent the community was adequately prepared to implement a substance abuse prevention program, and that Community Mobilization is the act of engaging all sectors of the community in a community-wide prevention effort.

The utilization of this survey in addition to our community mobilization strategies allowed our Community Partners to obtain, review and prioritize the data received to improve readiness and to mobilize within the community.

Luz has consistently surveyed our community with the assistance of our Community Partners to provide relevant data regarding community attitudes, awareness and perceptions related to substance abuse prevention at the time of the survey.  All surveys, interviews and focus groups have been offered in both English and Spanish or in a Bi-Lingual format.

Our Community Readiness and Mobilization efforts have engaged our community members and partners in the growth and development of our  Coalition.

Through the information gathering the Coalition has identified a wide range of capacity ranging from stage 3 to stage 9.  With the majority of the Latino community and those offering services within this community as being within stages 3 to 6.

Community Readiness

and Mobilization

Stage 1: Community Tolerance/ No Knowledge

We view the Community Readiness and Mobilization process as a

continuous and ongoing strategy to ensure that the issues and needs of the community that we serve are adequately recognized and addressed in a holistic and inclusive manner.

We will continue to access and

utilize local, state and national data as well as data trends specific to the Clark County Latino Community in the:

·   Identification of community

        related issues, obstacles and

        barriers

·   Prioritizing of our Risk and

        Protective Factors

·   Identification of need

·   Facilitation of collaborative

        efforts

Use local data for the process of:

· Identify issues

· Establishing Priorities

· Identify areas of Need

· Facilitate collaboration

· Elimination and or reduction               of  barriers and obstacles in our community.

This established the identification of a need for capacity building within the Latino Community and those providing services within it.

The Coalition has determined that targeting mobilization efforts and the capacity building focused on  the continued development of the coalition and the neighborhoods, families and individuals within

The Community Readiness has been found adequately prepared to implement a prevention plan. Luz Community Development Coalition is in the Community mobilization stage and is in the act of engaging all sectors of a community in a community-wide prevention effort.  We currently have the capacity to engage partners, stakeholders and populations, while maintaining high levels of commitment.

 Goal:

Luz Community Development Coalition will work toward continually building the Community Capacity.
